How Do You Measure Up?

 * When you think of problems with your knees, do you think of your feet?

* When you think of pain in your back, do you think of your feet?

* When you are having problems with your balance, do you think of your feet?

* Maybe it’s time you did!

I have been talking about the science of biomechanics, the study of the motion of your body.  Scientists have discovered that when the angle of the foot and ankle is off by just a few degrees, it affects your body and the mechanical chain of the joints that align the foot and ankle.  Now if they are off by a bit and over the course of your lifetime you take enough steps to go around the globe (25,000 miles), which the average person does twice, is it any wonder your knee hurts?  Is it any wonder walking becomes a problem?

When we are younger we don’t think about our health, but as we age that changes.

Suddenly you can’t get to the grocery store.  Shopping is a pain, literally and not just due to the cost!  Food has gotten awfully expensive hasn’t it?

The problem becomes many people simply don’t get the help they need to fix the problem.  So people take pills, get bad over the counter inserts, knee braces, cortisone injections and you name it.  They find themselves chasing a ghost and getting frustrated in the process.  What could be the answer?

What if you could actually accurately measure just how many degrees your foot or ankle is off?  What if you could do some simple exercises to change the angles?  And what if you could get comfortable, effective orthotics that could precisely change the angle you are off and eliminate your pain, make walking painless and fun again?  That would be nice wouldn’t it?

That is, in fact, what we are able to do here at Tri State Hand Foot and Ankle Therapy.  I have had over one hundred hours of continuing education to develop these skills.
