Restoring Circulation In Peripheral Neuropathy People ask all the time how does Anodyne Infrared Light Therapy restore sensation in the feet and hands? Many have peripheral neuropathy and have been told nothing can be done except to take medication for pain. People who have peripheral neuropathy experience pain or numbness in the feet, have poor balance and may experience some bad falls. That is not good! We measure sensation in the feet with our Pressure Specified Sensory Device (PSSD) and we measure balance. We measure and see the dramatic improvement in sensation and balance. Patients are happy to get rid of their pain and get a good night’s sleep but what is happening here? How can infrared light do all this? How does it work exactly? Well I guess you could describe it as “get back in circulation by restoring your circulation”. That’s right, it increases circulation dramatically to regenerate and restore damaged microbloodvessels and tissue. Okay, this sounds good but how exactly does it do it? It’s a little complicated so I’ll try to explain. Anodyne is a specific single wavelength of near infrared light that has high energy and can penetrate two inches deep in the body. This was specifically chosen for its effectiveness. This high infrared energy causes the release of nitric oxide which helps to greatly open up blood vessels but especially the microvessels which are damaged by diabetes. Proteins which contain nitric oxide are ingested as food, absorbed by the gut and distributed to all parts of the body. If the body is functioning normally it produces enough nitric oxide to keep nutrients and blood flowing to all parts of the body. However in diabetes the higher levels of sugar have a toxic affect that slowly destroys the small blood vessels particularly in the feet. You may feel tingling, numbness, pain and have your sleep disturbed. This is because small nerve fibers are losing their blood supply. Less blood, less nitric oxide equals less blood and so forth. It’s a vicious cycle. Anodyne delivers nitric oxide that opens the blood vessels and breaks this cycle. Because once the tissues are healthy they begin producing their own nitric oxide. This can restore balance and helps prevents amputations. It can also heal existing open wounds quickly. In cases of chemotoxicity where feet and hands become numb or painful it can permanently reverse these symptoms. In fact any tissue damage or injury that would benefit from increased circulation would from Anodyne Light Therapy. However this is not a stand alone modality. It greatly helps to do stretching and mild exercise in conjunction with the Anodyne. It helps to circulate the nitric oxide right after treatment. This is a very critical part of the program! So remember, if you want to get back in circulation let Anodyne restore your circulation.
