PAINLESS DIGITAL NERVE TESTING
Over the past year we have performed more than a hundred painless digital nerve tests using the Pressure Specified Sensory Device (PSSD). What is the device and what makes it so useful? With PSSD testing, patients are initially diagnosed more quickly with a device that studies have shown has greater sensitivity than a standard EMG or NCV test. This sensitivity allows earlier diagnosis and treatment before significant nerve destruction occurs. As with any diagnosis, early detection is a vital part of ensuring patient health and recovery in the most effective manner possible. PSSD testing is the result of more than 30 years of peripheral nerve research. The transducer is an electromechanical device which interfaces with a computer to create a system of instruments which measures sensory and motor function. THE KEY IS EARLY DIAGNOSIS PSSD can measure nerve response anywhere in the body. Some nerve disorders that are most commonly found with this device include: - Carpal Tunnel - Diabetic Neuropathy - Cubital Tunnel (Elbow) - Tarsal Tunnel - Radial Sensory Nerve Entrapment - Thoracic Outlet - Cervical Nerve Compressions - Neuropathy due to Alcoholism, Chemotherapy, Thyroid disorders, Rheumatoid Factors and Lead Exposure - Work Injury Nerve Loss The PSSD is FDA approved with a 99% confidence level. Accuracy of the unit is ensured by calibration to the National Institute of Standards and Technology and continuous calibration. If you would like to try this device on one of your patients with suspected nerve problems give us a call, or speak to us about a demonstration. UPCOMING EVENTS TRI STATE HAND AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY OPEN HOUSE Petersburg October 16th 4:30 - 8:30pm Cumberland October 29th 4:30 - 8:30pm The Open House will be held at each respective office and will include a demonstration on the nerve testing device, free nerve screening and discussion on nerve problems.
